DBN 7th Entrepreneurship Training Programme Now Open for Applications

The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) has officially launched the 7th edition of its Entrepreneurship Training Programme (DBNETP)—a flagship capacity-building initiative aimed at equipping Nigerian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with essential business skills and access to funding opportunities.

Since inception, DBN has trained over 4,000 entrepreneurs across Nigeria through a combination of physical sessions and its BizAid Learning Management System (LMS)—demonstrating its commitment to empowering MSMEs and driving sustainable economic growth.

Programme Objectives

The 2025 DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme is designed to:

  1. Equip MSMEs with the knowledge and skills to develop and defend viable business proposals.

  2. Improve MSMEs’ capacity to access credit and financial services.

  3. Enhance business efficiency in fund utilization, trade expansion, investment readiness, and market access.

Who Should Apply?

The programme is open to all Nigerian MSMEs from any sector who are eager to gain practical knowledge to succeed in today’s competitive business environment.

Training Structure

The DBNETP follows a blended learning approach combining virtual and in-person sessions:

Virtual Training (Self-paced)

Participants will access nine core modules via the BizAid App, covering foundational business principles. These modules are structured to provide flexible, self-guided learning.

Onsite Practical Training (5 Days)

A total of 300 MSMEs will be selected for intensive in-person training in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, tailored to their specific business needs.

Pitching & Grant Opportunity

All trained participants will be eligible to pitch their business ideas, and select businesses will receive grants between ₦500,000 and ₦1,000,000 to scale their operations.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident

  • Own a for-profit business based in Nigeria

  • Be available to fully participate in the training if selected

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Bankability – readiness to access credit

  • Business viability and sustainability

  • Scalability – potential for growth and job creation

Application & Training Process

  1. Register on the BizAid LMS platform.

  2. Complete at least 4 mandatory courses with a minimum average quiz score of 80%:

    • Accounting & Bookkeeping

    • Marketing & Sales Techniques

    • Sustainability for MSMEs

    • Credit Management / Access to Finance

  3. Eligible participants will receive an email invitation to apply for the in-person training.

  4. Shortlisted applicants will be notified via email and phone call.

  5. Onsite training will begin on specified dates in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.
