Apply Now: Grooming Centre University Grants 2025 for Nigerian Undergraduates and Postgraduates (₦20 Million Total Awards)

The Governing Council and Management of Grooming People for Better Livelihood Centre (Grooming Centre)—a leading Nigerian microfinance institution—is pleased to announce the 2025 edition of its University Grant Scheme.

Now in its third cycle, this impactful initiative is designed to foster academic excellence and support research that contributes to economic empowerment and social development in Nigeria.

About the Grant

The Grooming Centre University Grant is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students conducting research in vital areas that align with the Centre’s mission. These include:

  • Financial inclusion

  • Microfinance

  • Rural development

  • Social enterprise

  • MSMEs

  • Technological innovation

  • Women’s participation in development

  • Research focused on poverty alleviation in Nigeria

This program seeks practical, original, and impactful research that has relevance to Nigeria’s development.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a Nigerian university or polytechnic approved by the NUC or NBTE.

  • Be conducting research in any of the focus areas listed above.

  • Ensure the research is innovative, data-driven, and capable of producing measurable impact.

  • Submit a written and signed recommendation from their research/project supervisor.

  • Submit a concept note of the research and other required documents.

  • All Nigerian students are encouraged to apply—regardless of age, gender, religion, or ethnicity.

Grant Benefits

The total funding for the 2025 cycle is ₦20 million, distributed as follows:

  • ₦100,000 each for 100 undergraduate students

  • ₦200,000 each for 50 postgraduate students

How to Apply

Interested applicants are required to submit:

  1. A 10–15 page research concept note, including:

    • Introduction

    • Literature Review

    • Research Methodology

    • References

  2. A one-page personal profile

  3. A final soft copy of the completed research project (after approval)
