Bayelsa State Unveils BEEP 2025 to Empower 500 Entrepreneurs in E-Commerce

The Bayelsa State Government has launched a groundbreaking initiative—the Bayelsa E-Commerce Entrepreneurship Programme (BEEP 2025)—aimed at equipping 500 entrepreneurs with essential digital and e-commerce skills to thrive in Nigeria’s fast-growing online economy.

Set to be officially launched by Governor Douye Diri on June 17, 2025, at the Government House Banquet Hall in Yenagoa, BEEP 2025 falls under the state’s flagship MPOWER500 Programme—a strategic pillar of the government’s Prosperity Agenda.

Speaking to the media over the weekend, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiowou Kolu-Obiyal, said the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to economic inclusion, youth and women empowerment, and sustainable development.

“This year, through BEEP, we’re equipping 500 business owners with the tools to succeed in e-commerce. This programme is not just about digital training; it’s about empowering youth and women and stimulating economic growth in our state,” she stated.

She also urged citizens, entrepreneurs, and business leaders to fully embrace the opportunity and collaborate in building a more prosperous Bayelsa.

Providing further insight, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Investment, Mrs. Owanari Henry, emphasized that under MPOWER500, the state will empower 500 MSMEs, youth-led startups, women-owned businesses, and grassroots enterprises each year through expert-led training, mentorship, and access to markets and digital tools.

“BEEP 2025 is more than an economic programme—it’s a bridge that will connect Bayelsa’s MSMEs to Nigeria’s booming digital economy,” Henry explained. “Too many of our entrepreneurs remain digitally excluded due to limited tools, knowledge, and access to markets. BEEP is our solution to close that gap.”

The programme will provide structured support across key areas such as e-commerce, logistics, branding, payment systems, and online marketplace integration, ensuring each participant is well-equipped to scale and succeed in the digital economy.
