About the African Union (AU):

Job Purpose:

The Warehouse Support Officer will assist in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring timely and accurate handling, storage, and distribution of supplies. The role demands high organizational ability, attention to detail, and a capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receive and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and shipping documents.

  • Inspect items for damage or discrepancies and document findings.

  • Store materials in designated areas for efficient retrieval and inventory management.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records using relevant systems.

  • Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and hazard-free.

  • Pick, pack, and prepare outgoing shipments according to requirements.

  • Assist with loading/unloading and dispatch processes.

  • Monitor and report stock levels and participate in regular audits.

  • Follow health and safety guidelines and participate in safety drills.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and support general warehouse operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:

    • Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Accounting, or related fields with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.

    • OR Bachelor’s Degree in same fields with at least 2 years experience in warehouse/logistics operations.

  • Preferred Experience:

    • Exposure to public sector or humanitarian organizations.

    • Certification in warehouse or inventory management is a plus.

Required Skills:

  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to inventory accuracy.

  • Familiarity with warehouse and inventory management software.

  • Ability to work under pressure and independently.

  • Observant of health, safety, and security procedures.

  • Proficiency in one AU working language (English, Arabic, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili); knowledge of another is an added advantage.

  • Leadership: Relationship building, flexibility, risk awareness.

Contract Duration:

Fixed-term contract for 1 year, with a 3-month probation. Renewal is subject to performance, deliverables, and funding availability.

Remuneration:

  • International Staff: USD $55,174.63 (Annual – inclusive of all allowances)

  • Local Staff: USD $22,656.97 (Annual – inclusive of all allowances)
