Tier 5 Technologies and MongoDB Join Forces to Drive Digital Innovation in West Africa

Tier 5 Technologies, a leading enterprise IT and cloud services provider in West Africa, has entered into a strategic partnership with MongoDB, the globally renowned database application platform, to expand MongoDB’s presence and support digital transformation across the West African region.

The collaboration, unveiled during the recent “Legacy Modernisation Day” in Lagos, aims to support businesses in modernising their IT infrastructure to unlock the full potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies. With Africa’s digital economy expected to hit $100 billion, this alliance is set to accelerate the continent’s transition to data-driven innovation.

MongoDB powers mission-critical applications for over 50,000 customers across virtually every sector, including 70% of Fortune 100 companies. It is recognized for being the most widely deployed, globally distributed database, offering high performance and flexibility for modern application development.

Anders Irlander Fabry, Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa at MongoDB, emphasized the strategic importance of the Nigerian market:

“Partnering with Tier 5 Technologies marks a significant milestone in strengthening our footprint in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and a vital economic hub. Tier 5 has proven their commitment through the swift onboarding of MongoDB-focused talent and successful enterprise-level deals. We’re excited about the transformative potential of this partnership.”

MongoDB’s offerings include both its self-managed MongoDB Enterprise Advanced and MongoDB Atlas, a fully managed cloud database service available on AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. MongoDB Atlas is particularly suited to African markets, where traditional infrastructure often poses challenges. The service enables scalable, low-latency access to data, empowering developers to build robust, cloud-native applications.

Afolabi Bolaji, Director of Sales at Tier 5 Technologies, highlighted the long-term value of the collaboration:

“This isn’t just a reseller agreement. We’ve made strategic investments in MongoDB because we see it as foundational to Africa’s next wave of innovation. Our customers—ranging from agile fintech startups to major banks—are already seeing the benefits. Now, they’ll enjoy deeper local support, enterprise-grade tools, and access to global expertise.”

With digital transformation gaining momentum and cloud adoption rising across Africa, the Tier 5 Technologies–MongoDB partnership represents a pivotal step toward building resilient, future-ready digital ecosystems across West Africa.
