Delivering a keynote address on behalf of the FIRS Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, the Coordinating Director of Government Business and Medium Taxpayers said the award goes beyond acknowledging revenue contributions. It highlights businesses that are embedding responsible financial practices into their operations for sustainable growth.

“This award is not just about how much tax is paid—it’s about celebrating businesses that are growing responsibly and embracing the formal economy,” he noted.

FIRS reaffirmed its commitment to helping more informal businesses transition into the formal sector through tax education, improved record-keeping, and advisory support. The goal, officials said, is not to burden small businesses, but to equip them with the tools needed for long-term success and access to broader economic opportunities.

Dr. Adedeji emphasized that companies operating below taxable thresholds or within exempt categories would not be penalized but encouraged to build structures that position them for future growth.

The FIRS also reiterated its broader commitment to MSME development, promising continued support through incentives, streamlined processes, and inclusive policies designed to enhance ease of doing business and drive national economic growth.
