Oyo Partners with MAN to Promote Fair Haulage Practices and Strengthen Small-Scale Manufacturing

The Oyo State Government has forged a strategic partnership with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) to foster sustainable industrial growth and educate manufacturers on proper haulage fee structures. The initiative also aims to deepen support for small-scale manufacturers operating across the state.

The collaboration, spearheaded by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, Cooperatives, and Industry, was announced during an official visit to MAN’s Secretariat in Jericho, Ibadan. Representing the Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary, Olajide Okesade, emphasized the state’s commitment to ensuring fair revenue practices and building a thriving industrial ecosystem.

Okesade highlighted recent infrastructural improvements—including road upgrades and the ongoing expansion of Ibadan Airport—as part of broader efforts to make Oyo State a more competitive destination for investors and manufacturers.

He also reaffirmed the government’s support for micro and small enterprises, citing initiatives such as the Gari Oyo and turmeric processing projects aimed at boosting export potential. Okesade invited MAN to collaborate in identifying capable producers who meet export standards, as Oyo State works with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to enhance global visibility for locally made products.

Additionally, the Commissioner assured manufacturers of fair and transparent tax policies and urged MAN to improve data sharing to enable more informed policy decisions and targeted support.

Speaking on behalf of MAN, Sebastine Shuiabu praised the state’s efforts to boost industrial development, while Executive Secretary Nanzing Rimdan expressed the association’s readiness to partner with the government in addressing infrastructure, financing, and regulatory challenges affecting manufacturers.

This renewed collaboration signals Oyo State’s continued commitment to empowering micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and creating an enabling environment for inclusive and sustainable industrial growth.
