Capacity Building Workshop on Budget Literacy – Empowering Citizens in Kwara State

The Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI), with support from the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Christian Aid Nigeria, has opened applications for its Capacity Building Workshop on Promoting Budget Literacy Among Citizens in Kwara State.

This workshop is designed to equip residents with the knowledge and practical tools they need to better engage with public finance processes, understand how government funds are allocated and spent, and hold leaders accountable.

According to BBYDI, the objective is to simplify the budget process and empower citizens to protect their tax rights by actively participating in governance.

Why You Should Join

Participants will gain the ability to:

  • Understand how government budgets are planned, approved, and implemented

  • Learn their tax rights and obligations, and what the government owes in return

  • Use the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) to report tax-related concerns

  • Apply the citizen scorecard to monitor government spending and evaluate service delivery
