Sahara Impact Fund (SIF) Fellowship 2025: Empowering African Changemakers with Up to $30,000 in Funding

The Sahara Group Foundation, in partnership with LEAP Africa and the Impact Investment Foundation, launched the Sahara Impact Fund (SIF) Fellowship in 2020 to empower Africa’s next generation of changemakers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

Now in its fourth cohort, the SIF Fellowship is a hybrid accelerator programme that equips high-impact African social enterprises with the tools, mentorship, and funding needed to build sustainable, scalable businesses aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Programme Overview

The Sahara Impact Fund supports visionary young Africans who are building innovative solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges. The programme offers:

  • Skills Development

  • Strategic Mentorship

  • Access to Grant Funding

  • Business Advisory Support

  • Networking Opportunities

The goal is to bridge the gap between impactful innovation and sustainable investment, empowering entrepreneurs to grow their ideas into successful ventures that positively impact their communities.

What You Stand to Gain

Fellows will benefit from a comprehensive support package valued at over $100,000, including:

  • Seed Grant of up to $30,000

  • Go-to-Market Support

  • Legal Support (IP protection, patents, etc.)

  • Business Advisory Services

  • Brand Development Assistance

In the previous cohort, 10 exceptional Fellows received $5,000 each after completing the six-month programme. This year, top-performing Fellows can receive up to $30,000 following a rigorous evaluation process.

Selection Criteria Include:

  • Relevance – Does the solution address a real, urgent problem affecting people or the environment?

  • Innovation – Is it a novel idea or a unique improvement on an existing solution?

  • Scalability – Can it be expanded or replicated in other regions?

  • Profitability – Is your idea commercially viable?
