Over 51,000 Vulnerable Residents in Adamawa Receive ₦75,000 Each Through National Relief Scheme

Since January 2025, more than 51,000 disadvantaged individuals across all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State have each received ₦75,000 in financial assistance through a federal government initiative designed to alleviate poverty and enhance economic wellbeing.

This support comes under the Conditional Cash Assistance Program, a component of the broader National Social Investment framework. The effort complements earlier disbursements in 2024, when over 64,000 residents received ₦5,000 monthly, and another 51,000 benefited from the recently introduced RR support track within the same initiative.

These updates were shared by Mrs. Mary Yuwadi, Adamawa State Coordinator for the cash assistance program, during a sensitization session held in Yola. The workshop brought together Desk Officers, Co-Responsibility Officers, and Community Facilitators from every local council to boost awareness and capacity at the community level.

Jointly organized by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, the National Social Investment Programmes Agency, and the state government, the event aimed to strengthen program delivery and grassroots engagement.

Mrs. Yuwadi emphasized that the ₦75,000 grants—mainly targeted at women and young people—have helped ease financial stress and reduce unemployment across communities. However, she expressed concern over the limited public awareness of the program in remote areas. To address this, the training focused on empowering community officers to educate residents and guide them on how to access the benefits.

She also acknowledged the shift from manual to digital disbursement methods, which has created challenges for first-time or less literate beneficiaries. Equipping field officers with proper training, she said, is essential to easing this transition.

Adding her voice, Mrs. Mary John Zanguwa, the state’s Grievance Redress Manager, noted that aside from handling complaints, one of the greatest barriers remains lack of awareness—especially in rural communities. She said the session also focused on sharpening communication skills and strategies to expand the program’s reach and clarity.

Officials at the Adamawa cash assistance office remain optimistic that improved community outreach and better-trained facilitators will significantly boost the program’s impact and visibility in the months ahead.
