FG Launches Nationwide Tech Empowerment Program for Youths Under NPRGS

The Federal Government has officially launched a nationwide skills development initiative aimed at equipping young Nigerians with in-demand digital and technical competencies to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial potential.

The program, part of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS), is being implemented by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE).

Focused on practical and future-ready training, the initiative offers young participants hands-on learning in high-growth sectors such as web development, cybersecurity, and solar installation—critical industries shaping Nigeria’s digital and energy transition.

As part of its design, beneficiaries will receive essential work tools—including laptops, tablets, and other digital devices—to support immediate application of skills and facilitate a seamless entry into the workforce or entrepreneurship.

A representative from OSSAP-TVEE emphasized that this initiative supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader vision of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030. “This program goes beyond basic training. We are building a generation of skilled professionals who can lead innovation and drive inclusive economic growth,” the official noted.

Targeting underserved communities where unemployment and poverty are high, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and create opportunities for marginalized youth, empowering them to compete in a rapidly evolving economy.

To ensure high-quality outcomes, the program will be delivered in partnership with technical training institutes, innovation hubs, and private sector partners. These collaborations are intended to guarantee practical delivery and long-term impact.

This digital empowerment effort also aligns with Nigeria’s broader objectives of promoting education, entrepreneurship, and a knowledge-based economy, while encouraging self-reliance and reducing dependency on traditional aid models.

Ultimately, the federal government hopes that the program will unlock the innovative potential of young Nigerians, foster job creation, and build a resilient workforce equipped for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow’s economy.
