FG Launches Free Technical Training Program with ₦22,500 Monthly Stipend

The Federal Government has rolled out a nationwide Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative, offering free skill acquisition programs alongside a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 to support participants’ transportation and training needs.

Designed to empower Nigerians—particularly young people aged 18 to 35—with hands-on, market-relevant skills, the program aims to boost employment, promote self-sufficiency, and contribute to long-term economic development. The project is a collaboration between the Federal Government and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), with accredited training centres established across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking at the official launch of Ladela Educational Institute as one of the recognized training hubs in Abuja, Executive Director Angela Ajala described the initiative as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s human capital.

According to Ajala, participants will undergo six months of intensive training in high-demand sectors such as:

  • Fashion design and garment making

  • Solar installation and maintenance

  • Social media communications

  • Hospitality and catering

  • Creative and digital media production

Upon completion, each graduate will receive a starter pack from the Federal Government to kickstart their own business or professional career.

“This initiative is a powerful investment in our people. It acknowledges that the future of Nigeria lies in what we can build, innovate, and pursue,” Ajala said. “We’re welcoming every Nigerian eager to learn and grow. With industry professionals leading our sessions, participants will gain not just practical skills but also confidence, competence, and access to vital networks.”

Also present at the launch was NBTE Deputy Director Pauline Ajibili, who emphasized that the program is tailored specifically for Nigerian youth aged 18–35. She noted that all participants will receive nationally recognized certificates, increasing their chances of securing employment or launching their own ventures.

Ajibili urged interested applicants to register via the NBTE portal, where a full list of accredited training centres is available. She also clarified that the ₦22,500 monthly stipend is intended to help offset transportation costs, ensuring trainees can attend classes consistently without financial strain.
