About the Role
Southern, West and Central Africa (SWC) spans more than 14 countries with statutory operations in 7 (including two listed companies and a JV), manufacturing across 4 countries, and partnerships that extend distribution across 35 nations in Sub-Saharan Africa. This region manages a full beverage portfolio, balancing growth opportunities with market volatility, diverse economies, and fierce competition in beer and spirits.
Given its scale and profitability, SWC is critical to Diageo’s Africa strategy, with opportunities for expansion into new territories, categories, and routes to market. Connections planning plays a vital role in helping our brands engage consumers effectively, leveraging data-driven insights and partnerships to deliver exceptional brand experiences.
Purpose of the Role
The Consumer Planning team provides an end-to-end view of growth opportunities, uncovering insights into consumer occasions, behaviors, and shopping patterns. These insights inspire marketing strategies that drive purchase across all channels.
The Connections Planning Manager is responsible for transforming how Guinness brands connect with consumers through brilliant execution of the Connections Planning Model. The role ensures that media, creativity, and data are integrated seamlessly to maximize brand impact.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the connections planning process with media agencies and brand teams, delivering fully integrated consumer connection plans.

Influence senior stakeholders on media investment decisions.

Continuously measure, evaluate, and optimize connections plans, with quarterly reviews alongside the Marketing Leadership Team.

Leverage data and insights to identify opportunities, predict trends, and evaluate campaign effectiveness.

Build capability across teams to drive impactful media strategies that deliver growth.

Manage strong relationships with external agency partners.

Drive innovation through beta testing and optimization of media strategies.
Experience & Skills Required

Minimum 4 years’ experience in integrated media or connections planning, with expertise in digital and social media.

Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to stay ahead of market trends and competitor activity.

Proven influencing and relationship management skills across senior stakeholders and agency partners.

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect strategy to business performance.

Negotiate B2B agreements, including commissions, corporate contracts, PLBs, and JMFs.

Deliver sales targets and KPIs while managing expenditure budgets for maximum ROI.

Strengthen Qatar Airways’ brand presence by working closely with digital and marketing teams.

Build and maintain high-level relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, diplomatic missions, airports, and industry bodies.

Ensure compliance with company policies and represent Qatar Airways legally in assigned markets.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
-
Minimum of 7 years’ sales experience, with extensive commercial knowledge of the Nigerian market.

Strong background in airline sales, including use of airline business tools and product selling.

Proficiency in preparing reports on sales performance and market trends.
-
Excellent knowledge of GDS systems, ticketing, and travel industry sales.
-
Proven experience in planning, budgeting, and achieving revenue targets.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide sales teams.

Demonstrated success in building and maintaining client and partner relationships.

Ability to analyze market and competitor activity to inform strategy.
