Nigeria’s vision of becoming a global hub for digital talent has gained renewed traction as MTN Nigeria announces a ₦3 billion investment to bolster the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative. The 3MTT program, a flagship of the Renewed Hope agenda, aims to train three million Nigerians in high-demand digital and technical skills by 2027.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, who commended MTN for its early and sustained support of the initiative. He described the telecom giant as a strategic partner whose backing began well before the public rollout of the 3MTT campaign.

The 3MTT program is designed to develop a future-ready workforce equipped to compete in both domestic and global markets. With the global demand for digital talent on the rise, Nigeria is positioning its youth as a significant contributor to the international digital economy.

MTN’s investment adds to growing private sector support for the initiative. Earlier in March, Airtel Africa Foundation committed ₦1 billion, while IHS Towers signed a ₦1 billion agreement with the Ministry to establish 37 learning communities—one in each state and the Federal Capital Territory.

The IHS partnership also includes funding for the salaries of community managers at each centre for the next three years, ensuring sustainability and active community engagement.

The Minister highlighted the critical role of public-private partnerships in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation. He stressed that continued investments from industry leaders like MTN are vital to building an inclusive technology ecosystem and exporting world-class digital talent from Nigeria to the world.
